The University of Montana launched a one stop web site autumn 2007
to connect students to valuable tools such as Cyberbear, GrizMail, and
Blackboard, and resources such as academic advisors, tracking student
progress towards graduation, textbook accessibility, and a program that
assists the transition from high school to college, Wake Up Call.
Tracking Student Progress.
In autumn 2007, the Early Alert effort will commence. After the third
week of the semester, instructors in 100 and 200 level courses will
submit a code on an unofficial class roster to identify students who
appear to be struggling in the course. These student names will be
sorted and advisors or department personnel will contact the students
to offer assistance and referrals.
Wake Up Call Program.
The Wake Up Call program alerts new students to information they
should be thinking about but that they might not automatically know
about in the first year of college. While Wake Up Call does not literally
call students to get them out of bed to make morning classes, it does
serve the purpose of delivering information so that students are glad
they did get up in the morning!
Wake Up Call also provides a system for answering student questions
and directing them to people and programs to help them. It allows
students to self-refer and notify people on campus of questions or
experiences so that the campus community may respond. Wake Up Call
