Students Tutoring Students (STS)
The Students Tutoring Students (STS) office is located in LC 276
and provides tutors for $4.50 an hour. Program coordinators help match
students with tutors for most 100- and 200-level courses. STS will
recruit for tutors when one is not immediately available.
STS Walk-In Tutoring
STS offers free walk-in tutoring for CHEM 151, 152, 161, 221, PHYS
121, 122, ECON 100,111, 112, and MATH 241. All tutoring takes place
in LC 272. Pick up a schedule at LC 269.
The Writing Center
The Writing Center located in Liberal Arts (LA) 144 provides free
tutoring from 9 am - 5 pm. Appointments are required. Check the Writing
Center for available times. Graduate level students provide assistance
with a variety of writing issues.
*This service is not for English students only. Papers for any discipline
can benefit from the Writing Center.
Math
Pilot
Math PiLOT is a joint venture of the Office of the Provost, the College
of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
Its goal is to improve student performance in 100-level mathematics
at The University. Math PiLOT offers day and night drop-in tutoring,
placement testing, and individual counseling for the struggling math
student. For more information about services, or to obtain a schedule
of math tutoring hours, contact Sharon O’Hare at 243-5672 or
drop by Room 111 in the Math Building.
Also check with individual departments for tutoring opportunities
specific to their department.
