Ingrid Ernestl

Ingrid Ernestl has been named the 2014 University Center Student Employee of the Year.

Ernestl has been an employee of the University Gardens for two years. Over last summer, Ernestl demonstrated a tremendous level of reliability while maintaining her work schedule while also receiving radiation treatment for breast cancer. It was also during this time that Ernestl served as supervisor of the student staff for two months while Gardens supervisor Kelly Chadwick was out for medical reasons. Ernestl demonstrated the ability to communicate and connect with others by being encouraging and professional.

Ernestl consistently proves to be an asset to her supervisor by taking initiative in her work, seeing what needs to be done and doing it. As a prior business owner, non-traditional student, and international student, Ernestl offers unique contributions and perspectives to her work and team. Ernestl's work ethic and attitude is something to be admired.

Caring and helping others is intrinsic in Ernestl’s nature. As a social work major, she worked on researching the possibility of bring a food bank to campus as a class project.
