Meal Plan - Questions & Answers

Q: How do I access my meal plan?
A: Your Griz Card is the only way to access your Weekly Meal Plan Funds.

Q: How will I know my Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance?
A: Each time you make a meal plan purchase with your Griz Card, your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance is displayed at the register. You can also check your balance at the courtesy reader, located in the Cascade Country Store or ask any UDS cashier.

Q: What if my Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance is less than the entrance price to the Food Zoo?
A: If your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance is below the meal plan entrance price, you can supplement that balance with your UMoney account, cash, or check at the meal plan price. Your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance must be depleted before any alternate funding will be considered. After you have used your Weekly Meal Plan Fund balance, you can purchase a meal with your UMoney account, cash, or checks at the cash price.

Q: What happens if I don't use all of my Weekly Meal Plan Fund?
A: Weekly Meal Plan Fund balances do not carry forward from one week to the next. Remember, your meal plan is a prepaid purchase of meals for the entire semester. The service, convenience, and costs associated with having professionals plan, prepare, and clean up for every meal is provided whether you choose to come in or not.

Q: Can I host a guest or let someone else use my Griz Card?
A: You may use your meal plan, UMoney account, cash, or check to host guests, however, you must accompany them. Our cashiers will confiscate any card being used by someone other than the card owner.

Q: What happens if I lose my Griz Card?
A: To prevent unauthorized use, please report your lost card immediately by calling 243-6943 24-hours a day. You may request a temporary card from the Griz Card Center in the UC, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A temporary card is valid for seven days, allows you access to all your privileges, and locks out your lost Griz Card.

Q: Can I eat on campus over Thanksgiving, Wintersession or Spring Break?
A: Even though the dorms remain open for the convenience of some students, the cost of a meal plan does not include providing services during these periods. However, limited services are available over Thanksgiving, Wintersession, and Spring Break on a cash basis.

Q: Can I change my meal plan?
A: Yes. Meal plan changes must be made by 1 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 for fall semester and will take effect on Sunday, September 7, 2008. When necessary meal plan upgrades can be made anytime throughout the semester and will take effect within two business days.

Q: Who do I contact to change my meal plan?
A: You may contact the main office of Dining Services at 406-243-6325 or drop by the office in Lommasson room 145, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Q: What happens to my meal plan if I move off campus? *
1. You may keep your meal plan.
2. You may cancel your meal plan and receive a prorated refund, less a $25 cancellation fee through Friday, September 26, 2008 for fall semester. After these dates, there will be no meal plan refunds with the exception of students withdrawing from school.
* REMINDER: Your meal plan will remain in effect until you notify Dining Services with a Residence Life Check-Out Authorization Form. Once notified, your meal plan will end the next Saturday night.

Q: Is there a meal plan for off-campus students?
A: Yes. Off-campus students, faculty, and staff can purchase a Commuter Meal Plan. The Plan is activated with a minimum deposit of $20. For every dollar deposited, UDS will contribute an additional 10% to your account. The Commuter Meal Plan is accepted at all UDS locations.
