Bargaining: The UFA team, including Chief Negotiator Keith Parker, Doug Coffin and Phil Condon, and the Administration with Rob Gannon and Dean Forbes, have started negotiations for the next CBA. Section 13.000 (compensation) and other sections agreed upon by both sides will be opened. The UFA will schedule a meeting with Department Representatives to discuss the progress of negotiations. Any questions on bargaining can be directed to the UFA office.
Legislature: House Bills 2 and 13 are crucial to the University System. The state has agreed to a contract with state employees with 1% salary increase in the first year, a 3% increase for the second. The house bills appropriate the necessary funds for the increase. No additional employer contributions to the health insurance funds are included in the bills. The usual increase supplies funds for the 8 to 10% cost of medical inflation. The plans will be changing to make up for this difference as well as for changes necessitated by the Federal insurance laws. Faculty support of the University System is important. The legislature must adequately fund higher education.
