Graduate School Admissions Information:

1.) Complete the online application at https://www.applyweb.com/apply/uomont/menu.html which includes submitting a $51 non-refundable application fee electronically using a credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover) or debit check.

2.) We encourage applicants to read all directions thoroughly when filling out the online application. For questions about the online application process, please call the Graduate School at 406-243-2572.

3.) Submit "additional application materials" in one envelope directly to the program you are applying to by the program deadline. The information listing these materials is available when you choose the major you are applying for, using the online application. In case you missed it, please visit the Final Reminder section of this website.

4.) Letter of recommendation forms are available to download at the beginning of the online application. The letters should be sent to you and included in the "additional application materials" packet you will send directly to the program you are applying to. These should not be sent to the Graduate School office.

5.) Official transcripts should also be included in the "additional application materials" packet you will send directly to the program you are applying to. We have provided a form for you to print in order to request official transcripts from other colleges and universities. It is available at the beginning of the online application. These should not be sent to the Graduate School office.  **Official transcripts must show bachelor's degree awarded**

6.) Paper Applications - If you are unable to or choose not to apply online, you may request a paper application from the Graduate School at grad.school@umontana.edu or by calling (406) 243-2572. Effective October 1, 2005, there will be an additional $9 charge for processing the paper form making the paper application fee $60. • Applicants are required to supply three letters of recommendation.  These should be mailed to The School of Music 
• a personal statement indicating:
  • reasons for wishing to be admitted into this program
  • past experiences (volunteer or paid) working in the music field
  • 5 year goals after completion of the program
