First Session Offerings: May 21 - June 22, 2012

MAR 111A, Sec. 1—INTEGRATED DIGITAL ART (9:30 – 11:20 am MTWR, 3 credits)
This project-based class focuses on the expression of artistic concept through the use of digital technology. Students will develop basic audio/visual production techniques using Photoshop and Final Cut to create both digital still image and motion design work. Instructor Louey Winkler.


First Session ONLINE Offerings:  May 21 - June 22, 2012

MAR 101L, Sec. 50—INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA ARTS (3 credits)
This introductory course provides an in-depth look at what constitutes story in movies, television, the Internet and video games. The articulation of dramatic action is applied to all these areas, with an emphasis on story construction, genre, character of hero and the use of story within cultures. Students will analyze their perceptions of media stories and articulate their understanding of the content and meaning in such works. Instructor Michael Murphy.
 

MAR 112A, Sec. 50—INTRODUCTION TO NON-LINEAR EDITING (3 credits)
Get ready to explore the art of narrative film/video editing.  In this project-oriented course, students will create their own work using Final Cut Pro non-linear editing software.  Instructor Mark Shogren.
 

MAR 220, Sec. 50—INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP (3 credits)
This online course offers an introduction to the basic principles and techniques of still image design and manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. This project-based course demystifies the powerful Photoshop toolsets and workspace and enables students to actualize their ideas by helping them to develop an efficient production process. MAR 304, Sec. 50—MODERN HORROR FILM (3 credits)

MAR 320, Sec. 50—ART OF PHOTOSHOP (3 credits)
Join us for an online course that provides an understanding of the use of Photoshop as an artistic tool.  Exercises and projects will explore areas of customizing and combining tools, depth and perspective, and graphic elements.  Grading will be based on effective production techniques, project planning, and the artistic principles of color theory, content, and layering.  Interaction will consist of a student project gallery, critique and feedback areas, downloadable videos specific to the curriculum, and video conferencing (when available).  Requires Photoshop experience.  Instructor Amber Bushnell.

MAR 341, Sec. 50—INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGN (3 credits)
Students will gain invaluable skills in this introduction to the fundamentals of website structure, content design and navigation.  Areas of focus will be directory structure, graphic design, navigation, audio/video integration and domain management.  In this course, students will create a simple HTML website.  No previous experience required.  Instructor Determan.
