CoMotion Dance Project

The CoMotion Dance Project is an organization based in UM’s College of Visual and Performing Arts, under the direction of dance professor Karen Kaufmann.  CoMotion’s mission is to present artistic, integrated, educational dance/movement experiences to schools and communities.

The CoMotion staff are national leaders in dance integration.  We meet our mission with two primary approaches:
  • Highly-trained dance teaching artists provide integrated, standards-based dance residencies in classrooms with embedded assessments, and
  • Professional performers tour live, energetic, contemporary dance performances that are artistic, educational, exciting and interactive.

Montana Model Dance Education Program (MODE)

Since 2008 The CoMotion Dance Project has sponsored MoDE (Montana’s Dance Education Project). Professional dance educators teach long-term residencies in K-12 schools to get students and teachers moving. We make natural connections with the curriculum (math, science English/Language Arts) by pushing back the desks and dancing it!  The on-going program has led to the development of classroom resources for classroom teachers, for international distribution.  Click for more information: comotiondanceproject.com
