UM Dance Days

Kaitlin, BA 2009

The UM Dance Program hosts UM Dance Days each February where we are thrilled to welcome students from regional dance studios and two-year colleges to UM for two days of dance!

Participants in the event take classes, meet dance majors and faculty, attend a university-sponsored dance concert, given a tour of our beautiful facilities and provided opportunities to experience life as a UM Dance Major.

Please contact us if you have questions regarding dancers' recommended skill level.

*Hi, my name is Kyle Robinson! I'm a aspiring Hip-Hop Dancer/Choreographer and grew up in the Seattle, WA area. I'm currently a Junior in the Dance Department and am working toward being a professional choreographer after graduation. I'm enthusiastic and full of energy inside and outside of the studio. Can't wait to dance with you all!

9:45-12:30  Auditions** and scholarship review***for students who wish to enroll as a Dance Major at UM

**Audition Information: Auditions include current UM students auditioning to formally become dance majors. We will offer a warm-up class before auditions begin. After warm-up, students will be taught phrasework in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, and Jazz.  Dancers will also present a one-minute solo of their own choreography, in a genre in which they feel most comfortable.  Students are asked to bring a one-page letter describing their dance background and why they hope to become a dance major at the University of Montana. Please visit Becoming a Dance Major for complete audition information.

The Dance Program in the PARTV Center on UM Campus is easy to find! From I-90, take the Van Buren exit and follow the signs to UM. As you go over the bridge, stay in the left lane and turn left at the light at 6th Street. This takes you one block to campus; the PARTV Center is the tall brick building on your right. You may park in the lot in front of the building, and as you enter the building, go down the stairs to reach the dance studios. If you need an absence letter for your school, or a parking pass prior to your arrival, please email and one will be mailed to you.

We would love to recommend hotels, dining options, or things to do in Missoula. Just contact us and we'll be happy to answer any questions you have!
