Phonathon

Mission

The mission of The University of Montana Foundation (UMF) Phonathon is to connect alumni, parents, and friends with today’s UM students and to help raise financial support for the Excellence Fund

Every Gift Makes a Difference

The purpose of the UMF Phonathon is to create a positive relationship with alumni, parents and friends of the University. Phonathon participants solicit private gifts for the University to be used for the department or program of your preferred choice or to the University’s greatest need. Our student callers provide information about the University and current events and answer questions, comments or concerns. Student callers also take this opportunity to update alumni databases with current contact information.

The UMF Phonathon reaches out to alumni and parents to involve them in annual giving at the University. The phonathon is staffed entirely by students who provide a first-hand perspective about The University of Montana and help explain why annual giving is so important to the University’s future.

When you receive a call from the Phonathon, whether it is a call raising money for a specific department, scholarship needs, or just to say “thank you for your gift,” there is a UM student on the other end of the line. Thank you for taking the time to speak with our student callers. Your support and participation at any level is appreciated and demonstrates a strong commitment to UM.

Last year, alumni, parents and friends responded to student callers with more than $285,000 in pledges and gifts towards the Excellence Fund. Our goal this year is to raise $350,000. Every gift at any level makes a difference. As you may know, in recent years there’s been a dramatic increase at colleges and universities in the need for private funding and UM is not an exception to this role.

Update Your Information

Matching Gifts

Arranging a corporate matching gift is an easy way for alumni, parents, and friends to increase the impact of their personal contributions to the University. By taking advantage of your company’s matching gift you can generate an additional gift which may dramatically increase your contribution without any further obligation. The Phonathon Team

The Phonathon callers are students from all over campus that are employed part-time by the UM Foundation. The phonathon team operates five days a week while school is in session. UM callers enjoy speaking with alumni, parents, and friends by sharing college news, swapping funny stories, and verifying or updating contact information.
The Spring 2010 Phonathon will be held February 8 through May 6, 2010. Callers will call Sunday through Thursday from 5:30-9:00p.m. (MST). They look forward to speaking with you soon.
