University of Montana Triathlon is the collegiate triathlon team representing the University of Montana, in Missoula. UM Tirathlon was founded in 2001. Since then, the team has won USAT Collegiate Nationals twice and numerous Wildflower Collegiate championships. Beginning in 2006, the UM Tri team has produced 9 pro alumni, including Linsey Corbin (top American woman at 2008 Ironman Hawai’i), Ben Hoffman, Adam Jensen and young guns Brendan Halpin, Mat Shryock, and Jen Luebke.
The team trains, races, and generally spends a lot of time together. We welcome individuals of all ability levels and experiences. Because we are a club team, no practices are mandatory. We simply provide the framework for people to get together, train, improve, and meet people with like-minded interests. Members can come to as many (or as few) workouts as they like. Practices do tend to focus on peaking for our big spring races: Grizzly Triathlon, USAT Collegiate Nationals and Wildflower Triathlon. We welcome the potential for more collegiate competition through the new Northwest Collegiate Triathlon Conference.
