Flathead Lake Biological Station Receives $1 Million Challenge Gift

UM's Flathead Lake Biological Station has received a $1 million challenge gift to research and monitorFlathead Lake water quality. The gift, made through the UM Foundation, is from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. It requires a dollar-for-dollar match from other donors.


"We are grateful for this expression of support for one of The University of Montana's premier research programs, the Flathead Lake Biological Station," said President Royce Engstrom. "The gift will make a significant impact on UM's efforts to help preserve our natural resources." Read more

 Grizzlies host Northern Iowa in Quarterfinal Playoff Tonight 
UM's Washington-Grizzly Stadium

The fifth-ranked/fourth-seeded UM Grizzlies will host the second-ranked/fifth-seeded University of Northern Iowa Panthers in a NCAA Football Championship Subdivision quarterfinal playoff game, with kickoff at 6:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in UM's Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The game will air on ESPN. Read more

Journalism Students Produce PBS Program

UM seniors in the Radio-Television Department in the School of Journalism produced a half-hour television program for MontanaPBS. "Montana Journal: Home Grown" will premiere at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Read more

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office will host a review of the naturalization process at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Missoula Public Library, located at 301 E. Main St. Read more

Shooting Woes Costly for Lady Griz in 53-52 Loss to Denver

UM limited the University of Denver to nine points below its season scoring average and forced 25 turnovers, but another off-shooting night on Dec. 5 cost the Lady Griz a chance at completing a road sweep. Montana shot 33.3 percent, its sixth time in eight games this season under 37 percent, and lost to the Pioneers 53-52 at DU's Magness Arena. Read more

Montana Overcomes Halftime Deficit to Defeat Montana Tech 

Junior forward Mathias Wardscored a career-high 22 points as the Grizzlies defeated a scrappy Montana Tech Oredigger squad 64-49 on Dec. 7 in UM's Dahlberg Arena. Read more
