Outstanding
Service
to the External Community
|
|
The
$1,500 Outstanding Service to the External Community Award
recognizes a staff member's contributions to Missoula and
the surrounding region.
|
Who
is eligible:
A permanent staff member whose regular University employment
encompasses working with businesses, organizations, alumni,
governmental agencies, legislators, other universities and/or
the general public.
While
many staff members contribute to the community by participating
in volunteer activities, this award focuses on those staff members
who deal with the off-campus community as part of their regular
job duties.

Who
may nominate:
Any individual from on or off campus. |
Nomination
requirements:
-completed nomination form.
-a letter of introduction from the nominating person.
-a brief UM employment history.
-at least three letters of recommendation from individuals familiar
with the nominee's service to the off-campus community.
Criteria
to be addressed includes:
-description
of contacts the nominee has with members of the off-campus community,
including frequency of contacts, purpose and types of individuals
contacted.
-how nominee's contacts positively contribute to the overall
mission of the department and/or University.
-examples of exceptional service (e.g., resolution of problems,
going the "extra mile" to provide assistance, outreach
efforts on behalf of the University, initiative in obtaining
and sharing knowledge, etc.).
-letters or notes of appreciation and/or commendation for service
to off-campus community members.
