UM
publicity efforts rewarded
An array
of publications, articles and advertisements has earned UM 14 regional
and national awards.
The recognition comes from the national Admissions Marketing Report
Advertising Awards Competition and the Council for the Advancement
and Support of Education District VIII juried awards program. Winners
included the President’s Annual Report, Vision research magazine,
the Montanan and Research View — all produced by the staff of
University Relations — and recruitment posters and publications
produced by Admissions and New Student Services.
Touting Monte as the top mascot garnered UM the “Best of Show”
in the nation, as well as a Gold Award in the Total Public Relations
Program category of the Admissions Marketing Report competition. The
entry included posters, videos, public appearances and more —
all coordinated by UM printing and graphics, the President’s
Office, athletics, University Relations, the Bookstore at UM and,
of course, Monte.
The President’s Report 2003 was the other big winner in this
year’s competitions. The report, titled “Confluence,”
won a Gold Award from AMR and a Silver Award from CASE in the publications
category. In addition, a Todd Goodrich photograph that appeared in
the report won a CASE Silver Award.
In the AMR competition, Admissions and New Student Services won a
Silver Award for a recruiting poster and a Bronze Award for UM’s
total recruitment package. In addition, University Relations received
Merit Awards for its Research View newsletter and two general recruiting
advertisements that appeared in newspapers and magazines.
In the regional CASE competition, the Montanan won a Bronze Award
in the periodicals category, while Vision won a bronze in the publications
category. The Montanan also garnered two awards for writing —
a silver for University Relations staff member Paddy MacDonald and
a gold for freelance writer Tom Lutey.
The CASE awards represent the best work done by universities in the
northwestern United States and western Canada.
