Outreach tours go on the road

Early in 2009, UM President George Dennison will lead a series of outreach trips across Montana and beyond to recruit new students to the University and reacquaint alumni with their alma mater.

Administrators and recruiters from Enrollment Services have four destinations planned for this winter's outreach tours: Browning, Helena, Lewistown and Chicagoland — the greater Chicago area that includes suburban high schools that have been successful feeder schools for UM for years.

The winter tour begins Jan. 26 in Browning, where the UM contingent will tour the new Browning High School and attend a special ceremony honoring Dennison. In the evening, UM will host a reception and financial aid information session for prospective students and their families.

The UM Alumni Association also will host a reception for area alumni to reconnect with those in attendance.

From Feb. 27 to March 1, the UM outreach team will be in the Chicago area, hosting a breakfast and lunch for all high school counselors in the suburban and North Shore communities. A reception for prospective students and their families will be held there as well.

Dennison and company will travel to Helena for high school visits on March 23, in addition to hosting receptions with high school counselors and for prospective students and their families.

The tour's final stop will be March 24 in Lewistown, where counselors from all central Montana high schools from Winnett to Winifred and all points in between will be invited to breakfast with UM. The UM Alumni Association also will host a Lewistown lunch for area alums.
