School
raises funds The current Journalism Building was constructed in 1936, but it hasn't kept up with climbing enrollments and changing times. One big problem is the building doesn't have room for the radio-television department, which is housed in various venues across campus. Brown said the school wants all aspects of the J-school, such as the students' Kaimin newspaper and KBGA radio, housed under one roof. The new building site will be in the open space between Jeannette Rankin Hall and the Social Science Building. Brown
said construction could begin within two years if fund raising continues
at a brisk pace. About $10 million total is needed. |
