Coming through this area, Lewis and Clark found a wilderness filled with pristine waterways, vast timberlands and unblemished mountains. One wonders whether they would be impressed by Montana's progress or taken aback by the scars left by modern society. Now UM's Jerry Bromenshenk is doing his part to detect environmental pollution.
