UM's Student-Athletes Continue Academic Success
For the 13th consecutive semester, UM student-athletes maintained an average cumulative grade-point average above 3.0.
UM's 272 athletes maintained an average cumulative GPA of 3.06. This compares favorably to the cumulative 2.91 GPA earned by the 10,645 undergraduates in UM's general student population.

UM Pharmacy Program Accredited for Maximum Period 
The national Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education has granted the Skaggs School of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy program at UM accreditation for the next eight years, the maximum term allowed.
"This is testimony to the quality of both our faculty and students who make the program what it is," said Vernon Grund, interim dean of the College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences, which houses the pharmacy school. Read more

Discussion About Sexual Assault at UM Continues
In his weekly video address, UM President Royce Engstrom continues the discussion on sexual assault, including an update on the investigation, University reporting responsibilities and resources available to victims.

Dinner Commemorates Japan Earthquake
The UM Japanese Student Association will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the catastrophic Tohoku Earthquake with a fundraising dinner for the Japan Rising Opportunity Scholarship fund on Saturday, March 3. Read more

Bitterroot College Program Forms Council
Officials with the Bitterroot College Program of UM have decided to launch a new BCP Advisory Council. The new 12-member council replaces the steering committee that had guided the college program's early development. Read more

KBGA Hosts Annual RadioThon Drive
KBGA College Radio 89.9 FM at UM will host its annual RadioThon pledge drive through Friday, Feb. 17. The station hopes to raise $15,000, which symbolizes $1,000 for each year KBGA has served the Missoula community. Read more

MFA Thesis Exhibitions Open Feb. 28
Two UM School of Art MFA thesis exhibitions, "Giving the Ghost" and "Suspension of Belief," will be on display from Tuesday, Feb. 28, through Friday, March 16, in the Gallery of Visual Arts. Read more

UM Professor's Company Earns $2.5 Million Contract
The National Science Foundation has awarded Sunburst Sensors a $2.5 million contract to provide instruments for its studies. Sunburst Sensors is owned by Mike DeGrandpre, a chemistry professor at UM, and Jim Beck, the company president.
DeGrandpre invented Sunburst's Submersible Autonomous Moored Instruments (SAMIs). The instruments measure pH and the amount of dissolved carbon dioxide in bodies of water. More than 100 of these oceanic instruments will be manufactured in Missoula. Read more

Late Rally Not Enough to Lift Lady Griz over the Bears
Montana came back from a 16-point first-half deficit to force overtime Feb. 11 against Northern Colorado, but the Bears prevailed 56-54. Read more

Women's Tennis Notches Three Victories on the Road
The UM women's tennis team completed a three-match road trip to Portland, Ore., last weekend and came out with three victories. Read more

The men's tennis team swept Whitman College and UC-Santa Cruz at the Whitman College Shootout last weekend in Walla Walla, Wash. Read more

Griz Defeat Hornets 67-58; Cherry Earns National Honor
The Grizzlies had three players score in double figures and tied the school record for the best-start ever by a Griz team in Big Sky Conference play, as they defeated the host Sacramento State Hornets 67-58 on Feb. 11 in the Hornets Nest. Read more
UM's Will Cherry was chosen as the recipient of the Lou Henson Award, which is given to the National Player of the Week by collegeinsider.com, the organization announced earlier this week. Read more

Track and Field Athletes Begin Late-Season Surge; Hall Tops in Boise
Aided by a strong showing from its distance runners and jumpers, the Montana track and field teams posted eight individual-event victories and eight new Big Sky Conference qualifications at the Bozeman Running Company Invitational on Feb. 10. Read more
Montana junior Lindsey Hall was named the Big Sky Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 14 for her recent performance at the Boise State Team Challenge at Nampa, Idaho. Hall won the pentathlon on Feb. 10 with a season-best score of 3,842 points to earn her third career athlete of the week award. Read more
