Badgers Bounce Griz from NCAA Tournament 
 

Wisconsin shot 52.6 percent from 3-point range and the No. 4-seeded Badgers advanced to the third round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship with a 73-49 victory march 15 over No. 13 Montana  at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M.

 

The loss snapped Montana's 14-game winning streak and ended the Grizzlies' season at 25-7. Read more

 

 
Taste the World at UM International Festival
International Culture and Food Festival at UM
This year's International Culture and Food Festival at UM will offer a taste of everything from Italian pasta puttanesca to Indonesian mung bean dessert. Festivalgoers also can take in entertainment such as Polynesian and Tajik dance performances, children's games and crafts from around the world.

 

With the theme "A Taste of Traditions," the event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 25, in the University Center. Admission costs $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12. Read more

 

Forum Features Expert on Polar Bears
 

A noted polar bear biologist will present the second installment of the spring semester Natural Resource and Environmental Policy Forum at UM. Read more

Nominate Students, Groups for Awards

 

The University Center Student Involvement Network at UM is now accepting nominations for several awards recognizing students and student groups. Read more

Transfer Student Registration Day April 20
 

Transfer Transition, an early registration day for students who plan to transfer to UM next autumn, will be held Friday, April 20. Read more

UC Seeks Fashion Models of All Sizes
 

The University Center and Student Involvement Network at UM will celebrate the beauty of all shapes and sizes during a fashion show from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the UC Atrium. Read more

 
 
UM to Offer Global Public Health Minor

The Montana Board of Regents recently approved a new interdisciplinary minor in global public health at UM. Read more

Irish Studies Celebrates St. Patrick's Day

 

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, Friends of Irish Studies will host a celebration that includes a parade, free carousel rides for children and an evening of dining and dancing, with all proceeds benefitting UM's Irish Studies program. Read more

Authors to Give Reading, Workshop 
Award-winning writers Barry Lopez and Debra Gwartney will present a reading and workshop on Friday, March 23, at UM. Read more

Suicide Prevention Training March 23

 

Counseling and Psychological Services at UM will hold a training seminar on Friday, March 23, on how to assist someone who in having suicidal thoughts. It's open to all UM students, faculty and staff. Read more 

Washington Post Reporter Named Next UM Pollner Professor
 

Washington Post popular culture critic Hank Stuever will be the 2012 T. Anthony Pollner Professor at the UM School of Journalism.

 

Stuever will teach a course on pop culture coverage and will mentor students working at the Montana Kaimin, the campus newspaper. Read more

UM Raises Funds for Japan Rising Opportunity Scholarship
 

The Japanese Student Association at UM hosted a fundraising dinner March 3 at the First Presbyterian Church in Missoula to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The event raised $3,737 for the Japan Rising Opportunity Scholarship established to assist future UM students from the Tohoku region that was most affected by the disaster. UM Offers Interdisciplinary Course in Ireland

UM's College of Arts and Sciences wants students to study abroad this summer in Dublin, Ireland, as part of a course focused on the biological basis of language, language evolution and their connection to neuroscience.  

 

Titled "Brain, Mind and the Literary Imagination," the three-credit course will be taught by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean Christopher Comer in addition to professors from Trinity, University College Dublin and St. Patrick's College. The course runs from May 24 to June 9. Read more  

Bitterroot College Program to Offer Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education

The Bitterroot College Program of UM has partnered with Montana Western in Dillon to offer an associate of applied science degree in early childhood education. Read more 

'Sound is Place' Exhibit
to Open in UC Gallery
"Sound is Place," an exhibit featuring work by local artist Burke Jam, will be on display Monday, March 26, through Friday, April 20, in the University Center Gallery. Read more
Griz Golfers Fight for
Ninth Place in California
The UM golf team battled tough competition and tougher winds to climb the ladder in the third round of the Fresno State Lexus Classic in Fresno, Calif., on March 13. Read more
Fruit Bats to Perform at the Top Hat Lounge May 4

Eric D. Johnson's Fruit Bats will light up the Top Hat at 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, with Pure Bathing Culture and Mountain Breathers slated to open. Tickets are on sale now. Read more 

Women's Tennis Goes
3-0 on the Weekend

The Grizzly women's tennis team completed its three-match weekend with a 6-1 win over conference opponent Idaho State on March 11 in Pocatello, Idaho. Read more

MFA Exhibitions Open
at Gallery of Visual Arts

The School of Art and the Gallery of Visual Arts at UM will present two Master of Fine Art thesis exhibitions from Thursday, March 22, through Thursday, April 19. Read more 

Men's Tennis Team Shut Out by Boise State Broncos

The Montana men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss at the hands of 45th-ranked Boise State on March 10 at the Boas Tennis Center in Boise. Read more  

That's a Wrap: Lady Griz Season Comes to a Close

The Montana women's basketball team ended its season March 8 with a 68-59 loss to Montana State in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference tournament. The Lady Griz ended their season 16-14 and finished fifth in the Big Sky at 9-7. Read more
