Law School Ranked 7th Best Value in the Nation
The UM School of Law has been ranked the seventh "Best Value Law School" in the nation by National Jurist magazine. The ranking was announced in the September issue of the magazine, which is read by law students across the country.
The ranking takes into account the cost, debt load, bar passage and employment of graduates in actual law jobs. The UM School of Law emphasizes a skill-based curriculum, and the success is evident as UM alumni enter the workforce. Read more

UM Continues to Produce Strong Field of Fulbright Scholars
UM had eight Fulbright Program applicants accepted into the international scholarly exchange program last year, and though many universities can boast more yearly Fulbright Scholars, few can boast UM's 53 percent acceptance rate.
To put that number into perspective, the top three Fulbright-producing doctoral and research institutions in the country last year -- the University of Michigan, Northwestern University and Yale University, respectively -- each had more than 20 applicants accepted into the program, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. However, based on the number of total applicants from each of those universities, their average acceptance rate was only 22 percent. Read more

UM Foundation Launches Annual Business Drive
The annual Missoula Business Drive fundraising campaign launched Thursday, Sept. 6. Local business leaders, in collaboration with the UM Foundation, use the drive to strengthen ties between the Missoula business community and to encourage businesses to provide financial support for the UM Excellence Fund. Professor Honored with Allendoerfer Mathematics Award
The Mathematical Association of America recently selected UM Professor Mark Kayll as one of two winners of the 2012 Carl B. Allendoerfer Award.
The Carl B. Allendoerfer Awards are given for articles of expository excellence published in Mathematics Magazine and are named after Allendoerfer, a distinguished mathematician at the University of Washington and former president of the Mathematical Association of America.

Third Annual Fall Feastival Highlights Montana's Food Cycle

UM's Farm to College program will host the third annual Fall Feastival: Celebrating Montana's Food Cycle from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, on the Oval. The annual harvest feast provides students, faculty and staff a holistic view of Montana's agricultural food cycle.
The event is the culmination of a year of planning and cooperation with more than 25 food-producing partners. Nearly all of the items on the menu will be provided by local farmers, ranchers and food producers, who began preparations to grow and raise the food for the feast in April. Read more

The University Center Gallery at UM has issued its annual art call for the 2013-14 exhibition calendar. The artwork displayed in the UCG comes from local, regional and national artists. 9/11 Service Project Collects Toiletries
AmeriCorps VISTA members in Missoula will collect toiletries and coffee at local grocery stores to stock emergency shelters, veterans' organizations and food pantries as part of The Great Roll Out 9/11 service project. Read more

Griz Take Down Coyotes at Home, Tackle Mountaineers this Weekend
The UM Grizzlies' two senior running backs rushed for more than 100 yards each, as the Grizzlies defeated the University of South Dakota Coyotes 35-24 in the season opener for the teams on Sept. 1 in front of 25,156 partisan fans in UM's Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Read more
Grizzlies are on the road this week playing the Appalachian State Mountaineers in ASU's Kidd Brewer Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 8, with kickoff slated for 4:30 p.m. MST. Read more

Cross Country Teams Open Season at Helena Meet
The Montana cross country teams will open their fall season this week when the Grizzlies compete Friday at Carroll College's Early Bird Open. The meet will be held at the Bill Roberts Golf Course in Helena.
The Grizzlies and host Saints will be joined at the meet by MSU Billings, Spokane Community College and a number of Frontier Conference schools. Read more
