Hello from UM,
Welcome to a special summer issue of Transcripts, the official e-newsletter of the Grizzly Parents Association. This newsletter is published monthly during the academic year exclusively for parents of enrolled students at The University of Montana.
Family Weekend Tickets on Sale Aug. 31

You are invited to join your student and UM for Family Weekend 2011 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15.

Family Weekend tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Mountain time Wednesday, Aug. 31, on GrizTix. You will receive the promo code needed to purchase tickets via this newsletter on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Tickets are sold first-come, first-served and can only be purchased online. Only 450 tickets to the football game are available for Family Weekend attendees this year.

Football game tickets will be sold in packages that cost $56 each. A package ticket includes a football game ticket in the Family Weekend seating section and a ticket to the pregame tailgate. The pregame tailgate gives families a chance to experience a Grizzly game-day atmosphere and features food, entertainment and prizes.

Individual tickets to the pregame tailgate cost $21 each and also will go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 31.

We invite those not attending the football game to join us in the University Center Theater to watch the Grizzlies on the big screen and enjoy a free nacho bar and prize raffle. Registration for the viewing party and most other Family Weekend events is free and is available here.

For more information and a tentative schedule of events, visit the Family Weekend website.

Get Acquainted With UM at GO Day

GO Day on Sunday, Aug. 28, is a fun-filled program designed for students to meet future classmates, have fun and kick off life at UM.

Events begin at 9 a.m. with a welcome rally and residence hall competitions. GO Day events continue that evening with games and prize drawings in the University Center.

For more information, visit the GO Day website or email Karissa Drye in Enrollment Services at karissa.drye@umontana.edu.

Explore Greek Life at Fall Recruitment

UM students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority can meet current Greeks and learn about the chapters on campus during fall recruitment Monday through Saturday, Sept. 5-10.

Joining a fraternity or sorority gives students a chance to enhance their college experience by developing leadership skills, engaging in community service and philanthropy, and participating in academic and social programming while forming bonds that last a lifetime.

Greek Life also will host a barbecue at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter house at 1120 Gerald Ave. Current members will be on hand to answer questions about recruitment and the Greek system.

Chapters also will have booths set up in several residence halls, in the Davidson Honors College and on the Oval throughout the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 2 to answer questions and sign students up for recruitment.
