Family Weekend Tickets on sale tomorrow

Join your student and UM for Family Weekend 2012 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13.

Family Weekend tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Mountain time Tuesday, Aug. 28, on GrizTix. To purchase tickets, click on the "Buy Tickets!" link, then enter the promo code "GRIZFAM12" in the box that appears in the upper right corner.

Once you enter the promo code, you will have the option to select a package ticket, which includes one football game ticket in the Family Weekend seating section and one ticket to the pregame breakfast. The pregame breakfast will feature spirited game-day entertainment and a chance to hear from President Royce Engstrom. Package tickets cost $57 each, plus applicable Web fees.

Though student tickets will become available the week of the game, we recommend purchasing a package ticket for your student if you want him or her to sit with you in the Family Weekend section at the football game and join you for the pregame breakfast.

When purchasing tickets, you will be required to enter your student's name, regardless if you are purchasing a package ticket for your student. For each ticket you purchase, you also will be asked to provide the ticket holder's name and their relationship to your student. If you do purchase a package ticket for your student, list their name again and "student" as their relationship.

Tickets are sold first-come, first-served and must be purchased online. If you need assistance purchasing your ticket online, call the Adams Center Box Office at 406-243-4051 or 1-888-MONTANA (666-8262) between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. MDT.

You will pick up your tickets during Family Weekend registration from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, on the third floor of the University Center. If you are not arriving until after 7 p.m. on Friday, please send your student to pick up your Family Weekend packet. If neither you nor your student can pick up your packet on Friday, ticket pickup will be available from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 outside the pregame breakfast held in the University Center Ballroom.

We invite those not attending the football game to join us for a viewing party to watch the Grizzlies on the big screen in the UC Theater and enjoy a free nacho bar and prize raffle. Registration for the free viewing party and most other Family Weekend events is available here.

President outlines UM's institutional priorities

UM President Royce Engstrom delivered his annual State of the University address Friday, Aug. 24. He outlined achievements of the past year, challenges faced by the University and community, and some exciting new developments coming in the 2012-13 academic year.

The president affirmed that improving campus safety through education is a major priority this year. Part of this focus will include the new mandatory Personal Empowerment Through Self Awareness training for all students, soon to be followed by a version for faculty and staff. PETSA training will increase sexual assault awareness among students and facilitate a healthy, proactive dialogue about campus safety. More information about PETSA is available here, and additional information about other safety-enhancing programs will be shared in the coming months.

Other developments to watch for this year include a new effort to attain funding for a new Missoula College (formerly the COT) facility on the South Campus, recommendations regarding brand strategy from Mind Over Media, the appointment of several cabinet positions in the administration and the Global Leadership Initiative.

Congratulations to all incoming and promoted faculty who were acknowledged during the address.
