The UM Office for Student Success and Enrollment Services - Orientations have launched a new resource for you and your student.
UM 101 is a 19-week online resource for students and families that introduces campus resources, deadlines and services. All incoming freshman automatically are enrolled in UM 101, but participation is neither mandatory nor graded for this noncredit-bearing experience. They can access UM 101 through their UMOnline portal.
Families can encourage their students to take part in the course. Each week will bring new topics in four categories: academics, student services, the basics and social challenges.
A separate resource for families called Supporting Your Student also is available. It provides critical information and suggestions so you can help your student during the first semester transition. Topics include advice about homesickness, when to see an academic adviser or how to pay your bill. Families also can see the information available to their student.
To be part of UM 101, access UMOnline, select the Non-NetID Login and use "um101" as both your username and password.
If you have any questions, email UM 101 Co-Facilitators Shannon Janssen in the Office for Student Success or Karissa Drye in Enrollment Services - Orientations.
