About Us

We are dedicated to fostering a campus community where students can experience being a Griz to the fullest. By definition, students are at the center of everything we do in Campus Life. We take great pride and care in providing learning opportunities that support each student's intellectual, social, cultural, emotional, and physical development. We do our best to serve the needs of students in all aspects of student life outside the classroom, while at the same time working with Academic Affairs to support student learning.

For more than 25 years, our programs and services have been an integral part of the campus community that continues to encourage, challenge, and prepare students for life. We are primarily responsible for managing the student experience outside the classroom. From housing and health to disability services and on-campus dining, we provide services and facilities that support students, promote learning, and encourage personal growth.

Our sector is currently restructuring as we work through recruitments. The organization chart below will be updated once the Dean of Students/Associate Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provost positions are filled.

Our Areas

American Indian Student Services (AISS)

American Indian Student Services supports Native American students in their transition, achievement, and success at the University of Montana; by providing services and programs that have been established through collaborative partnerships with various campus and Missoula community members.

Associated Students of the University of Montana (ASUM)

The Associated Students of The University of Montana represents, empowers, and advocates for UM students. As your student government, ASUM offers a place to voice your comments or concerns, and it works to improve the quality of UM education, fund student groups and provide valuable services.

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation provides opportunities to thrive through innovative staff, facilities, and programs.

Experiential Learning and Career Success (ELCS)

ELCS aims to prepare students for a meaningful career from day one. Participating in career-building and experiential learning activities such as student jobs, internships, volunteerism, and research will allow you to find your passion and gain the skills to pursue it.

Curry Health Center

Curry Health Center provides quality, affordable, accessible health care for students at the University of Montana. We promote a healthy campus by treating students with dignity and respect and through collaborating and sharing our expertise with others.

Office of Disability Equity (ODE)

Office for Disability Equity ensures that programs at the University of Montana are accessible and usable by students with disabilities. Access is a civil right; therefore, reasonable modifications must be made. We recognize that a “one-size-fits-all” approach is not a sound response to students with disabilities who are seeking to ensure appropriate modifications. Therefore, our staff works with each student individually and modifications are provided on a case-by-case basis.

Office for Student Success (OSS)

The Office for Student Success helps students to meet three goals:

  1. Transition smoothly to college
  2. Remain enrolled and progress in a program of study
  3. Graduate in a timely manner

We do this by supporting students directly and by collaborating with academic departments and university offices to provide programs and services that support student’s academic growth and personal development.

UM Housing and Dean of Students

UM Housing provides safe, clean, healthy, and affordable living and learning facilities that foster an inclusive community living environment for students, staff, faculty, and guests. The UM Housing Office manages three areas, Residence Halls, Lewis and Clark Village, and University Villages, which provide a variety of housing options for single students, students with dependents, and University guests. Services provided in these facilities support and nurture educational experiences and personal development at the University of Montana.

Student Advocacy Resource Center (SARC)

The Student Advocacy Resource Center celebrates diversity, supports the right of all students to pursue success in our academic community, openly respects and cares for everyone, and is committed to a campus free from discrimination and unwelcome physical, sexual, emotional or social coercion. It is our goal that every interaction and every communication be respectful, considerate, professional, and supportive. If you have experienced sexual assault, relationship violence, bullying, intimidation, or discrimination, SARC is here to help you. Our services are comprehensive and we actively listen, believe in, assist and support our clients. Based on your decisions and choices, we also provide referrals, connections, and advocacy within the justice, medical, and social service systems. Our work is personal for you and your circumstances. All our services are confidential and free.

UM Dining

UM Dining supports student success through superior cuisine, exceptional dining experiences, and sustainable business practices.

University Center (UC)

The University Center is student-focused. The University Center is committed to providing a broad range of opportunities that enrich the university experience. The University Center designs programs and activities that appeal to a wide variety of student interests. The UC offers a myriad of convenient services including an art gallery, hi-tech study lounge, game room, theater, conferencing services, shipping and mail center, bank and ATM’s, copy center, full-service hair salon, bookstore, market, food court, and Griz Card Center.
