A large portion of and next to Ashley Creek along Highway 2 is devoted to ranching and farming.  This trend in land use is also observed near the confluence of Ashley Creek and the Flathead River.   Private land accounts for 75% of the ownership of the Ashely Creek Watershed.   Plum Creek is largest single private land ownership, holding 1/3 of the privately owned land in the watershed.
