Washington Middle School students with the help of the Watershed Education Network (web page under construction) have been monitoring the physical, biological and chemical characteristics of the creek for several years.

The Friends of Pattee Canyon is an organization that watches legal and developmental issues that may arise in the canyon and, therefore, also along the creek.

There are several government agencies that protect the creek through legal means.
