How is Pattee Creek Protected?
| Like all Montana streams, Pattee Creek is protected by the
Montana State
Constitution, its local residents and by local, state and federal agencies
using local, state and federal laws. You can see a brief explanation
of some of the laws by clicking here.
Most of these laws protect streams by requiring that: 1. government agencies carefully review their actions so as to protect and restore watersheds, or 2. private landowners obtain permits before taking any actions that could affect streams. These permits require that landowners consult with government resource scientists and design their actions so as to minimize impacts to the stream.
