An external link is a link to a web page outside of the Cascade site.
To create an external link, highlight the text to be linked and click on the Insert/Edit Link icon.
The Insert/Edit link dialogue window will appear. Select the External button. In the Link field, enter the appropriate URL making sure to not leave off http:// or the link may not work properly. It’s recommended to copy the URL and paste it into the Link field.
To open the link in a new window or tab, select "New Window" from the dropdown menu in the Target field. This can be helpful when linking to a PDF or retaining user traffic on the current website.
To link an email address, highlight the address or text to be linked and click on the Insert/Edit Link icon. The Insert/Edit Link dialogue window will open. Select External Link and instead of placing a URL in the Link field, type “mailto:” followed by the appropriate email address. There should be no spacing between the text. For example, the Web Help email can be linked by inserting the text: mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org.
