Before a site is published to the Production destination, it can be useful to view it on the Staging server, where content can be previewed as it would appear on the live web server. This feature is especially helpful in sharing with collaborators, or users who may need to proof-read content. Once the site is published to the Staging server, anyone with the link can access the site on the web, but it will not show in search engine results.
In most cases, the staging URL can be accessed by replacing www with staging at the beginning of the normal site URL. The staging version will only reflect the most recently published assets from Cascade.
For example: The staging destination for the Ponderosa Project web site, www.umt.edu/web is staging.umt.edu/web
Sites currently existing within the College of Humanities and Sciences and supported by Spectral Fusion:
- For a site that has not been migrated to the Ponderosa Template and has a URL beginning with cas (i.e: cas.umt.edu), the staging address is likely cas.umt.edu/draft/(your-site-url).
- For a site that is built in the Ponderosa Template and has a URL beginning with hs (i.e: hs.umt.edu), the staging address is likely hs.umt.edu/draft/(your-site)
Sites currently exist within the Student Affairs IT and have a URL beginning with life (i.e: life.umt.edu) indicates that the site exists within this server.
- In this case the staging address is likely sacascadestaging1.sa.umt.edu/(your-site-url)
