Web Rights and Responsibilities
Training and Certification
As the University of Montana’s
Web presence continues to expand, it becomes increasingly
important and appropriate
to more
carefully monitor the ways
in which Web technologies are being used by campus
constituencies. The decentralized approach to Web development
on campus has led to more widely
scattered Web servers, technology administrators, and
Web developers. Since it remains unlikely that Web development will
become entirely centralized under University technology
management, it remains vital that management be aware
of who has access to Web services
and how they are using these services.
The University of Montana requires all people responsible for the posting of content on a Web server (primary or secondary) to pass a yearly training and certification program offered through the Information Technology Office (ITO). All web administrators and developers are required to have a basic familiarity and knowledge of UM Web development policies and standards.
