Dr. Thomas Gibson, Director, Academic Processes & eLearning, Montana University System
Dr. Tom Gibson has been employed within the MT University System for more than 35 years, including the past six years with the Commissioner of Higher Education. He holds a BS degree in Accounting, a masters in Public Administration, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration, all from the Bozeman campus. He served at the MSU-Bozeman campus for almost 29 years in such capacities as Director of Internal Audit for almost a dozen years and University Treasurer for almost 15 years. In addition to his higher education financial expertise, he is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Internal Auditor. He taught in two graduate programs at MSU on several occasions and served on doctoral committees at both MSU and UM. He served as Chairman of the MSU Bookstore Board of Directors for almost two years and was Interim CIO at the Bozeman campus for more than a year. He was a founding member of the Regents’ Taxation Advisory Committee and has been responsible for coordination and oversight of the State Authorization process for MT and the MUS and CC campuses since its inception in October 2010. He is also in his second three-year elected term to the NACUBO Board of Directors, following multiple years of leadership with the regional WACUBO organization.
