Creating Accessible Word Documents

Benefits for Word users who create 'born accessible documents'

The person using program-provided styles benefits in several ways. 

  •  Change all the headings of the document using the style feature. 
  • Use the heading styles to create the table of contents. This table of contents can be refreshed when the document is edited.
  • Use the navigation pane as a document map while editing. 

Word for Mac

Recommendation: Keep Office for Mac updated. Documents made with Word 2016 for Mac can be "saved as" accessible PDFs.
