International Admission

You are considered an international student for Admissions if you will be living in the United States under a non-immigrant visa (F, B, E, H, J, K, L, or M Visa). If you have U.S. Legal Permanent Resident status ("Green Card"), have another legal immigrant status (Refugee, Asylee), or are recognized under the Jay Treaty you are considered a domestic U.S. student for Admissions. 

The application for admissions for Fall semester 2020 at the University of Montana is now closed.  The Fall 2021 application will be available in August.

International Admission Types

FULL ADMISSION

You are eligible for full admission if you have a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 70 or above, or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or above.

Pathway Admission

You are eligible for pathway admission if you have a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score betwee 52-69, or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score between 5.0-5.5.

Conditional Admission

You are eligible for conditional admission if you have a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) below 51, or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) below 5.0. Students with no language test score should also apply for conditional admission.

The English Language Institute (ELI) serves non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English language and academic skills in order to pursue academic goals at the University of Montana or another institution of higher learning.
