What is Bear Tracks?

Bear Tracks is a required online program and your first step to becoming a Griz. It’s designed to help you explore academic options, register for courses and get a head start on other important next steps for college – even before New Student Orientation. It’s also a fun opportunity to get acquainted with the UM community!

Why is Bear Tracks important?

At UM, your success is our top priority. It’s a place where people know your name, and you can always be sure someone has your back. That’s what Bear Tracks is all about: preparing you to hit the ground running as you begin a new adventure. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Hear from current UM students
  • Complete academic advising and course registration
  • Finalize your financial aid
  • Submit your student ID photo and set up your student email account
  • Learn about placement testing and more

Who should complete Bear Tracks?

First-year students beginning in summer or fall are expected to complete Bear Tracks and attend New Student Orientation. Students must be admitted for the summer or fall term at the University of Montana or Missoula College prior to completing Bear Tracks.

You can register now by clicking the button below.
