Mission Statement

The Associated Students of the University of Montana enhances the student experience through:

  • Providing services such as childcare, transportation, support and access to basic needs, legal services, sustainability advocacy, and more;

  • Advocating for the rights of all University of Montana students as a diverse, unified body;

  • Modeling trust and transparency among students, faculty, and staff.

Vision Statement

With student-oriented agencies and services, The Associated Students of the University of Montana will empower and build relationships within the university community while advocating for all University of Montana students' right to an enhanced higher education experience.

ASUM Senate

ASUM shall be the representative body of the members of the Association, organized exclusively for educational and non-profit purposes. The primary responsibility of the Association is to serve as an advocate for the general welfare of the students. ASUM may also cooperate with other student associations to further common interests. The government and activities of the Association shall be carried on through (1) the Association as a whole with a general governing body known as the ASUM Senate, (2) an executive, consisting of the ASUM President, Vice President, and Business Manager, and (3) boards and standing committees as provided for in Article 5 of this Constitution. The ASUM government and activities must comply with Montana State law and the policies of the Montana Board of Regents on Higher Education.
