American Heart Association

American Heart Association LogoMission: Lifeline Stroke Montana is an initiative generously funded by the Leona M. & Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. This $4.8 million investment will build upon the gains achieved by the existing Montana Stroke Initiative. This project transforms stroke care by focusing efforts on connecting all the components of acute stroke care into a smoothly integrated system that reinforces the use of evidence-based guidelines, measures performance, identifies gaps, and engages in improvement projects at a systems level. The stroke system of care begins with community recognition and preparedness to identify stroke and continues all the way through hospital discharge, into rehabilitation. It brings together hospitals, ambulance services, emergency communications centers, emergency medical service regulatory and medical direction agencies, local government, local media, and payers to forge a proactive system of stroke care that saves and improves lives. Mission: Lifeline Stroke will further strengthen the collaboration with stakeholders across the state representing hospitals, individual ambulance services, the Montana Department of Health and Human Services and others. The project will enhance many critical elements of an optimal stroke system of care, resulting in better outcomes for Montana’s stroke patients.

University of Utah Neurosciences Outreach

University of Utah LogoThe University of Utah Health offers TeleStroke and TeleNeurology consultation to inpatients and emergency room patients at regional hospitals throughout the Mountain West. Our services are available for TeleStroke and TeleNeurology emergent care (24/7 365 days a year) and scheduled visits (Monday through Friday). Via state-of-the-art telemedicine technology, TeleNeurology allows patients to receive world-class neurological care from U of U Health neurologists for acute diagnosis and treatment, without leaving their community where a neurologist may not be available.

In areas with fewer health care professionals, there is limited access to professionals who can diagnose and treat stroke patients when time is a challenge. Using real-time videoconferencing and TeleRadiology, the University of Utah Health's TeleStroke Program provides 24-hour on-call neurologists to community hospitals to help with the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients.

The TeleStroke Program overcomes geographic and transportation barriers with reliable technology that allows immediate access to stroke experts who can provide consultation.

Our team is comprised of well-trained physicians in both general neurology and many neurological subspecialties. Our physicians remain on the cutting edge of research, innovation, and clinical care. We also provide the newest and most evidence-based treatments in the region. Our TeleNeurology specialists collaborate with providers throughout the region to determine the best course of action for each patient.

Patients across the region have access to U of U Health neurology experts through TeleNeurology. Our services are currently available throughout the Mountain West region, including Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, and Idaho.
