Campus Community,

I write providing an update about our collaborative efforts with the Missoula City-County Health Department regarding current and accurate information about the prevalence of COVID-19 in our campus community.

As we shared earlier this week, MCCHD is the statistical reporting entity for our county and is the only source for current and accurate data on cases among the entire UM community – students, staff and faculty. MCCHD has confirmed they are able to provide to us – and share publicly – weekly data on the following indicators:
  • Total historical cases associated with UM (since Aug. 12).
  • Current active cases associated with UM.
  • New number of cases each week.
  • Average number of close contacts per case.
  • Number of UM students, staff and faculty currently in isolation and quarantine.

I am grateful for the tremendous partnership of the MCCHD team and for their hard work in compiling and sharing this data with our campus community. Starting next Wednesday, the MCCHD team will share this data weekly on its website.

Thank you, and I wish you all a safe and healthy Labor Day weekend.

Seth
