Assistive Technology

The University of Montana offers a variety of assistive technology to its campus community. Students with disabilities may use assistive technology as a reasonable accommodation. Some technology requires approval by the Office for Disability Equity. Below is a list of available assistive technology at UM.

  • Glean - note-taking & recording app 
  • Read & Write - reading software
  • Orbit Note - reading web tool
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking - speech recognition
  • JAWS - screen reader
  • JAWS Fusion - screen magnification

Software training & support 

The Accessible Technology Services (ATS) at IT provides demonstration, training, and additional support for students to use AT.

Contact your ODE consultant. Then, ODE will connect you with ATS to receive instructions, authorization, and installment. 

Hardware

  • Assistive Listening Systems: FM listening systems & personal amplifiers 
  • Bluetooth wireless microphones
  • iPad to use real-time captioning

Hardware check-out

IT Presentation Technology Services (PTS) in the Mansfield Library handles hardware lending and instructions.

Contact your ODE consultant. Then, ODE will connect you with PTS to check out the equipment at the Mansfield Library. You will return the equipment to the Mansfield Library by the due date.
