Build programming to ensure underrepresented students are connected to internship opportunities and career success activities (ElevateU); increase BIPOC participation in career ready activities and programs

Near-term Actions

  • Establish a pool of funds to provide pay for students who need support for experiential learning
  • Work with UM’s Tribal Outreach specialist to create internship opportunities in students’ home communities
  • Target ELCS Programming to BIPOC students, key programs, and student groups, e.g.:
    • AISS
    • SIN
    • MT10
    • Student Athletes, coaches, teams
    • Student Groups: Black Student Union, International Student Assoc., Kyiyo, LatinX Student Union, Pacific Islanders Club

  • Infuse career readiness infused into introductory courses and freshman seminars
  • Infuse career readiness into core curriculum
  • Conduct DEI audit of ELCS materials and workshops
  • Establish ELCS DEI Committee
  • ELCS staff member join UM DAC

  • Submitted a philanthropic gift proposal for supporting experiential learning awards
  • All MT10 students enrolled in Career Core
