Personal Summary

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Jen completed bachelor's degrees in both Biology (Ecology and Evolution) and Environmental Science (Biodiversity and Conservation) at the University of Maryland. Since graduating in 2017, she has worked with USGS at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center researching waterbirds in the Chesapeake Bay, led a Northern Saw-whet owl banding station at Petit Manán Point in Maine, and trained in raptor identification and research at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Pennsylvania. Jen is currently focusing on community level dynamics of alpine wildlife in Alaska, where she is trying to understand how both climate and landcover changes impact the distribution and occurrence of alpine wildlife (Arctic ground squirrels, collared pika, hoary marmots) in Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska. She is also piloting a citizen science project called the Denali Alpine Wildlife Project.

Education

B.S Biological Sciences: Ecology and Evolution, University of Maryland
B.S. Environmental Science and Policy: Biodiversity and Conservation, University of Maryland

Research Interests

Jen is interested in understanding more about how climate change is impacting and will continue to impact populations and communities, with a focus on modeling wildlife distributions, behaviors, and connectivity in the context of both climate changes and anthropogenic factors.
