Personal Summary

As part of the interdisciplinary Montana Drought and Climate team, I helped design a quantitative survey sent to 3,000 Montana farmers and ranchers. For my thesis, I am combining those survey results with analysis of 30 qualitative interviews I conducted with farmers across the state. I am writing a manuscript on political-economic factors influencing farmers’ climate adaptation and a report on multi-level barriers to those adaptations. Complementing my thesis research, I am training as a UM BRIDGES Food-Energy-Water Nexus fellow funded by the National Science Foundation. This training includes coursework and practicums in systems thinking, science communication, and interdisciplinary partnerships, including a joint manuscript in progress analyzing US beef industry data defining “sustainability.”
