Investigation Phase

Step 1: Issuance of Formal Complaint and Notice of Investigation

Written notice and a copy of the signed Formal Complaint are sent to the Complainant and Respondent. 

Step 2: Process Meeting with Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX Coordinator meets with the Complainant and Respondent separately to discuss the process and supportive/protective measures. 

Step 3: Assignment of Impartial Investigator

Title IX Coordinator assigns an impartial investigator to the case. 

Step 4: Investigator Communication to Parties

The assigned Investigator sends an email to both parties to schedule an interview and to provide evidence and witnesses. 

Step 5: Interviews

Investigator interviews the Complainant, Respondent, and any relevant witnesses. 

Step 6: Preliminary Investigation Report

Investigator sends a Preliminary Investigation Report to the Complainant and Respondent to review and to have the opportunity to provide feedback. 

Step 7: Final Investigation Report

Investigator sends a Final Investigation Report to Complainant and Respondent to review. Any feedback will be sent directly to the Panel Chair in the Adjudication Phase.
