Why a Degree in Dance?

The University of Montana offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in dance and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) where students select an emphasis in either teaching or choreography/performance. The BA is a broad liberal arts program that allows students who plan to enter a dance career to select an additional major area of study to complement that objective. The BFA in dance stresses modern dance in combination with ballet and jazz training. In addition to instruction in technique, the curriculum includes pedagogy, improvisation, composition, production-related technologies, and career preparation.
