Volunteer Programs

Throughout the year, University students can participate in a variety of volunteer experiences, from single-day service projects with local nonprofit organizations to longer-term tutoring placements with area elementary schools, and week-long intensive service learning programs across the United States. These projects increase student engagement opportunities that enrich the academic experience, address the need for nonprofit organizations to build organizational capacity with student volunteers to better serve their missions, and help the University of Montana develop strong campus and community partnerships.

Participating in meaningful community engagement activities helps students see the relevancy of what they are learning, feel connected to their community, and increase their likelihood of graduating. In addition, nonprofit partner organizations depend on the Office for Civic Engagement to engage university students in the community to help organizations build capacity and provide invaluable programs and services that meet critical community needs.
