Courtney Bentz, a sophomore double-majoring in Russian and French, won $3000 for 10 weeks of study in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

During her Gilman summer, Bentz will stay with a local host family and study advanced Russian at the London School of Languages and Cultures. She also will meet with Fulbright Commission staff and Department of State representatives.

“As an aspiring diplomat, the opportunities provided by this scholarship are critical stepping stones towards my future of cross-cultural work,” Bentz said. “I am excited to go see the world for myself and equally as eager to see how my experiences will change me for the better!”
