WELCOME To University of Montana GEAR UP  First Year Services

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is essential not only in high school but during the collegiate experience.  Our goal is to help students

  • gain admission to the University of Montana
  • retain and stay by utilizing resources
  • attain by earning their certificate/degree.
We provide free services, resources, and assistance to students and their parents to help them to successfully bridge the transition from high school to college.

The U.S. Department of Education funds GEAR UP to provide middle and high school students college access & readiness programs.  Montana GEAR UP believes that postsecondary education is possible for all Montana students, regardless of economic background. Montana GEAR UP supports schools, students, and their families to increase students’ college and career readiness through academic preparedness, postsecondary planning, and financial aid knowledge so that they may succeed in their education beyond high school.
