10 - 11 AM: WorldFest Keynote Presentation - Engaging Community in Internationalism
Join a six-person panel of UM campus and city leaders in international education and programming, discussing how advocating for greater global awareness has helped transform Missoula into an “international city” and learn about the comprehensive internationalization strategy that connects various international programming efforts on our campus to our community. The panel will provide insights from completed and ongoing initiatives, ranging from promoting and providing international life-changing experiences, to fostering globally-minded leaders of integrity, to reaching across disciplines to explore global challenges through collaboration and hands-on experience, to connecting art, culture, and community through education, advocacy and celebration. 12 - 1 PM: WorldFest Lunch Brown Bag: India and Indonesia
UM Professors Ruth Vanita (English) and G G Weix (Anthropology) will give an introduction with visuals about these two countries featured in their two courses on these ancient cultures, India and Indonesia. Both countries are now major players in the global economy and four major religions originated in India with Indonesia having the world’s largest number of Muslims and India the second-largest. Grab your lunch and travel to Indonesia and India with Prof. Vanita and Prof. Weix!
1 - 2 PM: Peace Corps Celebrates 60 Years!
This Spring marks the 60th anniversary of Peace Corps! Join University of Montana’s Peace Corps campus representative in celebrating and learn more about what the Peace Corps has to offer! Participants will learn about the history of Peace Corps and where it stands today. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear stories from a returned Peace Corps volunteer’s service and ask questions about the program.
Mansfield Center Panel Discussion: Coup in Myanmar: What Happened and the Movement to Restore Democracy
On February 1, 2021, the country’s military seized control of the government, ousting elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and members of the National League for Democracy (NLD). For this session, two Myanmar U.S. Department of State alumnae of UM’s Mansfield Center: Zin Thu Aung and Zin Mar Myint will discuss events leading up to the coup, the protests, and what civil society is trying to do to restore democratically elected leaders. Following their recorded and live statements will be a public question and answer session. Due to circumstances in Myanmar, this event will be rescheduled. Learn traditional songs in Irish from Fulbright FLTA @ University of Montana Jane Ní Luasa. Jane is from Gougane Barra, Co. Cork, Ireland. Learn songs and the history of song in Ireland. Beginners welcome!

3 - 4 PM: Get to Know the Humphrey Fellows!
Over the past eight years, the U.S. State Department’s Humphrey Fellowship program has brought scholars to our community from over 40 different countries around the world. Come learn about the Humphrey program, the Fellows’ experience in Missoula, and how you can be involved with the 2021 cohort coming to the University of Montana in April. Presenter will be Sara Schroeder, English teacher at the English Language Institute, UM.

UM Black Student Union Presents “ Africa’s Beauty and Nigerian Culture”
BSU introduction: "The University of Montana Black Student Union presents Africa's Beauty and Nigerian Culture. An understanding of the homeland and continent that is Africa; its beauty, diverse cultures, traditions, food, subcultures, ethnic groups and resources. This presentation also discusses issues surrounding the negative media portrayal of this magnificent continent." Hosted by Nonso Maxwell Obieyisi, President of the Black Student Union and UM international student.
Resources for Diversity in Education Abroad
This video discusses the Education Abroad team’s commitment to creating a safe space on top of a supportive and inclusive environment for every student on campus or while studying abroad. When studying abroad, you may be the minority the first time in your life, or you may be concerned how your race, sexual orientation, language, ethnicity, religion, gender, etc. will impact your experience. This presentation provides students with resources and a chance to hear from students who’ve studied abroad facing similar challenges.
