Position Overview

This position requires proficient computer skills. The successful applicant will further develop technical skills related to using and maintaining complex software as well as managing databases. This position focuses on improving, maintaining, and updating Terra Dotta (the software used to manage all international travel at UM). The successful applicant will work with all aspects of the Terra Dotta software with special attention to creating, maintaining and updating budget sheet information as well as the credit transfer database that allows students to find pre-approved courses in their field of study before they go abroad. This position provides the opportunity to enhance one's computer skills and gain specialized knowledge working with Terra Dotta, an industry-leading standard software for the field of international education.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintaining and updating budget sheet database on Terra Dotta
  • Building new program brochures while maintaining and updating existing programs
  • Retaining accurate program dates and itinerary record database
  • Providing technical support to UM faculty/staff/students using Terra Dotta
  • Developing research records using flowcharts/spreadsheets of student data
  • Managing and updating a database for course information on credit transfers
  • Communicating with Terra Dotta Technical Support Team to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues with the software
  • Determining best practices for office’s electronic file naming and storage
  • Building a year-round Microsoft Project, or similar software, for the Education Abroad application cycles
  • Managing and updating multiple spreadsheets, as needed
  • Completing other responsibilities, as assigned

Requirements

Candidates for this position must meet the following:

  • Be a UM student currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program at UM, and be in good academic and judicial standing
  • Be available to work at least 10-15 hours a week. There may be occasional evening and/or weekend hours
  • Enthusiastically and accurately promote the concept of education abroad to UM students, faculty, and staff
  • Have a high level of written and oral communication skills
  • Have a high level of computer skills, including proficiency in UM Box, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, and Google Drive
  • Have the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, and multitask across multiple assignments
  • Be technically proficient with computers or have a strong desire/willingness to learn
  • Be detail oriented, highly organized and resourceful

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with building, managing, and updating databases
  • Knowledge of Access and Excel software
  • Knowledge of Terra Dotta
