UM Gilman Scholarship Recipients
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship grant gives undergraduate students with limited financial means an opportunity to study or intern abroad. Although 5,000 students apply for this scholarship nationwide, there were only 1,300 beneficiaries this year.
Out of 1,300 recipients across the United States, three belong to the University of Montana! These students include: Brianna Bal, Mark Hirschfelder and JT Vineyard. Brianna Bal, currently studying wildlife biology, plans to study abroad at the University of Waikato in New Zealand during the Spring 2020 term. JT Vineyard, a music major, also plans on participating in the exchange program at the University of Waikato during the Spring 2020 term. Finally, Mark Hirschfelder, currently studying biology, plans on studying abroad at the Universidad Blas Pascal Argentina during the Spring 2020 term. Overall, these students have worked very hard and are grateful for every opportunity presented to them through the Gilman Scholarship.
