GradCon

GradCon is the University of Montana's graduate student research conference and will be held in person on Friday, March 8, 2024 in the University Center (3rd floor). UM GradCon is interdisciplinary and welcomes presentations from all disciplines and departments. It is organized annually by the UM Graduate Student Research Council and is sponsored by the UM Graduate School. The conference is free and open to the public. All members of the UM campus community are encouraged to attend and participate.

Group Counseling for Graduate Students*

Support for STEM Grad Students
Therapeutic group meetings where graduate students can share feelings, challenges, and successes. This features six sessions which are free, 90 minutes, in-person, and led by graduate students in the counseling program.

Faculty Training: Mentoring for Mental Health*

Asynchronous Training for STEM Professors and Faculty

Earn a certificate of completion, gain awareness of the mental health challenges of graduate students, work to improve grad student wellness, and join us for an in-person follow up over lunch. 

Note: We encourage programs to do this training as a group, attend the follow up sessions together, and/or reach out to us about a special meting with faculty in your program.

Join us for a presentation and open discussion about developing a research program and navigating publication, based on a seminar for graduate students at Cornell. Featuring Dr. Tarren Andrews, a UM alumna, whose work at UC Boulder and Yale included training and research in Indigenous studies. She currently works in Yale's program in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration.

The Hellgate Treaty: A Millennium in the Making

Dr. Tarren Andrews (Yale University program in Race, Ethnicity, and Migration) is a UM alumna (BA '13, MA '15) who will be talking about her innovative research into the logics shared between colonial practices in North America and medieval institutions in the North Atlantic.
